V Class 01-16: Snowball and Flower Block

This project, designed for the beginner, features simple patchwork blocks which, when assembled, form either a collection of multicolored octagons on a solid background, or, in a slightly different arrangement, a large four-petaled flower. The 6″ blocks can be made with either a LIGHT or DARK background. Instructions are given to make either of two designs. The Snowball quilt consists of 24 6″ blocks; the Flower design uses 24 6″ blocks arranged to make 6 12″ Flower blocks. A 3″ wide border all around will make for a finished size of approximately 30″ x 42″.

The first photo below shows a similar quilt using the Snowball block; the second photo shows a portion of a quilt made in the Flower design.
