II Class 10-14: Christmas Ribbons

This project, designed for the advanced beginner, features simple patchwork blocks which, when assembled, form a twisted ribbon pattern. The 9″ blocks can be made with either a LIGHT or DARK background. Instructions are given to make either of two sizes of quilt top: the small quilt consists of 24 blocks and measures 36″ x 54″ without borders; the larger quilt has 48 blocks and measures 54″ x 72″ without borders.

The photos show: finished quilt with white background, one 9″ block with LIGHT background, and one 9″ block with DARK background.

Each 9″ block is made from 2 3/4 ” strips which are subcut into smaller lengths. Materials required to make the quilt top are listed; the figures in ( ) are for the larger quilt.

Background: 1 1/2 ( 2 3/4) yards: choose LIGHT (white, very light pastel, ecru) or DARK (black, navy, etc.)
Assorted prints: 19 (38) strips, 2 3/4″ X 42 for blocks

Purchase fabric for borders (if desired), backing and binding later.
NOTE: Although this was planned as a Christmas quilt, assorted prints of another theme may be used in place of Christmas fabric.
